Thetford first fix: joists, studwork and roof timbers

Our base is in Brandon, about 7 miles from Thetford. We also work in Brandon, Thetford Forest, Attleborough and the villages between them, so this part of Norfolk is well inside the area we cover.

Thetford falls under Breckland Council. That matters as soon as a project involves a structural alteration or anything outside the existing footprint, because the application and the inspections go through them. We build to what has been approved and work to the inspection stages on the programme.

First fix carpentry here turns on one thing more than any other. The estate layouts here bring shared boundaries and narrow side access more often than not. It is the difference between a job that runs to plan and one that needs scribing to every surface. We price from the property, never from a template.

At about 7 miles from our base, getting out to measure up is straightforward rather than something we have to schedule weeks ahead. Call or send the enquiry form and we will arrange a time that suits you. The quote costs nothing.

Thetford is dominated by overspill era estates built from the late 1950s onward, wrapped around a much older core. The construction of the house decides how joists run, what walls are carrying, and how new timber has to meet the existing structure.

Estate plots in Thetford are consistent and generously sized for their era, though side access is often tight. Access is the practical question here: long joists and roof timbers have to get from the road to where they are needed.

That depends on the property and the alteration, and the decision sits with the council. Anything structural is built to an engineer's design and inspected, which we plan into the programme from the start. In Thetford that means Breckland Council. If there is any doubt we would rather you check with them before work is booked than after.

Yes. The nearest other towns on our list to Thetford are Brandon, Thetford Forest, Attleborough, Watton and Diss, and the villages in between are covered as well. If your address sits between two of them, tell us the village and we will tell you straight away whether it works.

Yes. It most often runs alongside second fix carpentry, extension work and renovation work, and because one team does the carpentry throughout there is no gap between trades. At about 7 miles from our base, putting the work into one programme also means one run of travel instead of several.

Call 07539 278705 or send the enquiry form with a line about the job. At roughly 7 miles away, a visit to measure up fits easily into a normal week. The quote costs nothing.
