Studwork, joists and linings set out square in Ely

Ely sits about 18 miles west of Brandon, well inside our core area. Soham, March and Downham Market are the same sort of distance from us, which puts this corner of Cambridgeshire well inside the area we cover.

Ely falls under East Cambridgeshire District Council. That matters as soon as a project involves a structural alteration or anything outside the existing footprint, because the application and the inspections go through them. We build to what has been approved and work to the inspection stages on the programme.

Ely carries extensive conservation coverage and a great many listed buildings. That sits on top of the stock itself. Ely has a historic centre of genuinely good period property, ringed by Victorian terraces and modern housing. It is the difference between a job that runs to plan and one that needs scribing to every surface. We price from the property, never from a template.

At about 18 miles from our base, getting out to measure up is straightforward rather than something we have to schedule weeks ahead. Call or send the enquiry form and we will arrange a time that suits you. The quote costs nothing.

Ely has a historic centre of genuinely good period property, ringed by Victorian terraces and modern housing. Structural timber work depends on what the house was built with, because new work has to tie into the old frame properly.

Plots in the centre of Ely are constrained, while the modern development is a good deal more open. Access is the practical question here: long joists and roof timbers have to get from the road to where they are needed.

The council decides, not us. Structural work is inspected through building control, and if the house is listed there may be a separate consent to ask about, so we raise both at the first visit. In Ely that means East Cambridgeshire District Council. If there is any doubt we would rather you check with them before work is booked than after.

Yes. The nearest other towns on our list to Ely are Soham, March, Downham Market, Lakenheath and Newmarket, and the villages in between are covered as well. If you are not sure which counts as nearest, give us the village or postcode on the enquiry form.

Yes. It most often runs alongside second fix carpentry, extension work and renovation work, and because one team does the carpentry throughout there is no gap between trades. At about 18 miles from our base, putting the work into one programme also means one run of travel instead of several.
